Breaking the poverty cycle one spin at a time – The GiraDora washer

The GiraDora is a human-powered combination washer and spin dryer that is inexpensive way of uplifting communities in impoverished areas where women often spend nearly 6 hours a day, 3-5 days a week washing cloths by hand.

Created by Alex Cabunoc and Ji A You the GiraDora increases the efficiency and improves the experience of washing clothes by hand. Costing only $40 it uses no electricity (is powered by a springloaded foot pedal) and  saves time, water and money, improves comfort and health, and provides opportunities to generate income.
